ATTENTION BOOK OF MORMON BELIEVERS!
According to the Book of Mormon the dark skin of the Indian people is a curse put upon them by God for their rebellion against Him. The book states, “Wherefore, as they were WHITE, AND EXCEEDING FAIR AND DELIGHTSOME…the Lord God did cause a SKIN OF BLACKNESS to come upon them.” “…the cursings which hath come upon their SKINS” (R.L.D.S. Edition, 2 Nephi 4:35 and Jacob 2:54).
The book explains the purpose of the curse upon the skin was “…that they might not be enticing unto my people (the righteous group)” “…that thereby the Lord God might perserve his people, that they might not mix and believe in incorrect traditions which would prove their destruction.” 2 Nephi 4:35 and Alma 1:106). The curse took place immediately and extended even to those who would marry them. “And cursed shall be the seed of him that mixeth with their seed: for they shall be cursed oven with the same cursing.” “…whosoever did mingle his seed with that of the Lamanites, did bring the same curse upon his seed.” (2 Nephi 4:37 and Alma 1:107).
The curse was to be “from this time henceforth and FOR EVER, except they repent of their wickedness and turn to me, that I may have mercy upon them.” (Alma 1:113).
When any portion of them repented and turned to God “the curse of God did no more follow them.” “…their curse was taken from them, and their SKIN BECAME WHITE…And their young men and their daughters became EXCEEDING FAIR…” (Alma 14:20 and 3 Nephi 1:52-53).
IF THE BOOK OF MORMON IS TRUE –
- HOW COME THE INDIANS WHO HAVE REPENTED AND BEEN CONVERTED TO CHRIST STILL HAVE DARK SKINS?
- HOW COME THE SKIN OF THOSE WHO MARRY INDIANS DOES NOT TURN DARK? The curse was to follow those who mixed with them.
- HOW COME THE CHILDREN OF ALL MIXED MARRIAGES (the Indian who has not had the curse lifted and the one who is not under the curse) DO NOT ALL HAVE DARK SKINNED CHILDREN AS THE BOOK PROMISED? “Cursed shall be the seed of him that mixeth with their seed.. .they shall be cursed oven with the some cursing.”
These things ore only published for the purpose of helping the Book of Mormon believers understand the falseness of the book, not because we believe or support the idea of dark skin being a curse!
Paul said God “NOW COMMANDETH ALL MEN EVERY WHERE TO REPENT.” Peter said, “Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons: BUT IN EVERY NATION HE THAT FEARETH HIM, AND WORKETH RIGHTEOUSNESS, IS ACCEPTED WITH HIM.” (Acts17:30 and Acts 10:34-35).
Have you received Christ Jesus as your Lord and Savior? John said, “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.” (John1:12).
