God held His prophets to high standards. He gave His Old Testament prophets two primary assignments; to keep the Israelites faithful to His commandments and to proclaim the coming of the Messiah.
Once Jesus, the Messiah, came to Earth, the need to predict His arrival was no longer needed and the need for prophets became mute.
