Peter declares in his first epistle to the scattered believers in Christ that “as newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby.” For ye “are built up a spiritual house, AH HOLY PRIESTHOOD, TO OFFER UP SPIRITUAL SACRIFICES, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.” Peter further states, “ye are a chosen generation, A ROYAL PRIESTHOOD, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.” (1 Pet. 2:1-9).
The writer of Hebrews explained to them that “the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect. For then would they not have ceased to be offered…And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, WHICH CAN NEVER TAKE AWAY SINS.” Explaining the work of Jesus Christ, he declared, “Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people’s: for THIS HE DID ONCE, WHEN HE OFFERED UP HIMSELF. For the law maketh men high priests which have infirmity, BUT THE WORD OF THE OATH, WHICH WAS SINCE THE LAW, MAKETH THE SON, WHO IS CONSECRATED FOR EVERMORE.” “FOR THE PRIESTHOOD BEING CHANGED, there is made of necessity a change also of the law.” We are told to “CONSIDER THE APOSTLE AND HIGH PRIEST OF OUR PROFESSION, CHRIST JESUS”…”come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.” The Spirit makes it plain when it persuades all to “COME,” that “WHOSOEVER WILL” may. (Heb. 10:1-2 & 11, Heb. 7:27-28, Heb. 7:12, Heb. 3:1, Heb. 4:16 and Rev. 22:17).
Christians can praise God for our GREAT HIGH PRIEST JESUS CHRIST and His “whosoever will” priesthood; but do you realize that on June 1, 1978, the Mormon Church’s Presidency and Apostles finally voted to allow Negroes to hold their priesthood. Negroes as a race have not been allowed in their priesthood since they moved to the Salt Lake Valley. In fact, Brigham Young declared on Feb. 5, 1852, “…the first presidency, the twelve, the high counsel, the Bishopric, and all the elders of Israel, suppose we summon them to appear here, and here declare that it is right to mingle our seed, with the black race of Cain, that they shall come in with us and be partakers with us of all the blessings God has given to us. On that very day, and from the hour we should do so, the priesthood is taken from this Church and kingdom and God leaves us to our fate. The moment we consent to mingle with the seed of Cain, the Church must go to destruction — we should receive the curse which has been placed upon the seed of Cain, and never more be numbered with the children of Adam who are heirs to the Priesthood until that curse be removed.” (Ms d. 1234, Box 48, Foler 3, L.D.S. Archives).
May God use this to help Mormons see that their living oracles cannot be trusted. Truth does not change. “But the word of the Lord endureth forever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.” That message is recorded tor all in the Bible and it declares, “Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons: But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.” “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.” (1 Pet. 1:25, Acts 10:34-35, ond Gol. 3:28-29).
